I got Vista Ultimate today to replace Home Premium.

I looked at the Back up thing in Control Panel. I did a complete system back up onto a partition on the hard drive.

Does that mean if when say wanna format - instead of installing Windows over again - i can just lay down the image it backed up with my clean install? I presume its a lot quicker then doing a full install again?

Could i dump the files and do it over the network - I have a gigabit network so it would be just as fast as reading from the hard drive in the computer.

When you perform the restore, it will reformat the partition you are restoring it to.

It won't let you backup to network locations though, and I couldn't find the option when I did the restore.

I don't need to restore TO the network -

I am on about whether or not I can restore FROM the network. Cause if I can I can keep the backup on a removable hard drive.

I guess I can always keep a copy on a partition in my computer and one on the removeable drive.
