Hi, I have a weird problem that I'm hoping someone may know the answer to it?

For some strange reason, whenever I view a jpg in Windows Photo Gallery (That's the default picture viewer in Vista) the colors are ever so slightly off. Maybe not noticable to your average joe, but very evident to me.

Opening it in any other picture viewer application the problem goes away.. In other words pics look like they should.

The only weird thing thats happened on my computer recently was that Q4 crashed and sent my entire pc's visual display on a permanent contrast blast. Rebooting didn't fix it.. But eventually i found the reset button within my catalyst control panel. That fixed it.. Dunno if the two are related? The pc is really a new build and nothing funky has gone on to it.. Which is why I think the Q4 crash may have something to do with it....

Is there someway of reseting the color values within Windows Photo Gallery? It's a pretty simple and user friendly slideshow tool, so I'd like to keep it.. AND a weekend's worth of a rebuild is not something I have in mind.

Thx

I don't know how Vista works but I'm sure the idea is the same, you need to make aure that your monitors colour profile is set to sRGB, which is the standard for non printed material.

To anyone who's interested, I fixed it.. Under advanced settings, color management, I changed the ICC profile from Dell E248WFP to sRGB IEC61966-2.1

Weird as to how the Dell profile got changed recently? Anyway, its fixed so I'm happy, i can't tell the different using the sRGB ICC profile.

Most likely changed when you used Windows update and it downloaded new drivers for your monitor. Happens with Samsung monitors as well, so it's not just Dell.
