i allready had 2x 512mb sticks and have just put an extra 1gb stick in making 2gb in total. when i switched the pc on everything seemd fine, showing that ther was 2gb at the post screen but never loads past the vista loading screen. all that happens is the little green bar moving along but nothing else. i can boot up in safe mode with 2gb in but cant load up into vista properly.

any ideas?

Which memory and motherboard?

Does the new memory use the same settings as the older memory? The 1gb stick may not be able to cope with the previous settings if they're different.

Go into your BIOS and select Optimal Defaults and try again.

i have a Ga K8N SLI mother board and the new memory is Team Elite DDR400 kingston. and te old meory is elixir. ive tried setting the the settings the same but still dosnt load properly, but i know that the new memory runs at 3-4-4-8 and dont know the old memory settings.

nope still doesnt go past the boot screen with +0.1v and i even loosned the timings. i dont get it how it can show up in the post screen but not boot to windows?!?

It's possible the two different brands are conflicting. See if it boots with just the 1gb stick.

i think thats whats happaning my self cuz the 1 gig stick works on its own and so does the 2x 512mb sticks on there own but not together. i will have to just get another 1 gig stick of the same type of memory.

thanks for your help though.
