vista wont install PLEASE HELP!!

i am trying to install vista 64 home premium but it cant find my hard drive where it says where do u want to install windows and is asking me to load a driver off a disk. atm i have xp 32 professional installed if thats any help

what should i do?

you probably need to install the drivers for what ever is controlling your hard disks - eg RAID, SATA etc

ok i checked the as rock website but they dont have any vista drivers. is ther any generic ones that would work?

i have installed the sata drivers for xp off the as rock website but it still doesnt work.

Can you get the drivers from chipset manufacturer eg I know you can get Nvidia ones straight from them etc.

the chipset is is uli 1689 i have installed the sata drivers off the website but it didnt work

http://www.nvidia.com/page/uli_drivers.html says it has Beta Vista drivers - did you load those when trying to install it?

ok im d/l them now but its takin forever i googled 4 the drivers and it seems loads of as rock users have had the same problem and this fixed it so thnx for your help

i have tried it with the 220's on a usb pen but it cant find them

i have tried it with the sata drivers on a usb pen and it cant find them

i have installed both on xp and it doesnt work

it says it can be on a usb pen but im not 100% sure now

can anyone think of a way i can get vista to recognise the drivers on my usb pen?

they r too big for a floppy drive 2.5mb

I had a problem like this with my old Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe....It wouldn't read 1 SATA drive alone but as soon as I put 2 in and created a RAID it read them right away.

Have you tried creating a RAID with 2 drives? if not try setting them as Stripped drives and see if Vista recognizes them this way.

If your having that much trouble with it XP > Vista upgrade? Worth a shot see if it sees the damn drive.

how would i set them as stripped drives?

Just been looking at the manual for your motherboard ....If you don't want to set it as RAID go in the BIOS settings and set it too none RAID...Though setting them too stripped it should give you the option somewhere when you have set them too a RAID array.

in the setup screen it cant find any sata devices

is this why it isnt workin u think?
