Vista .. wont install

Hello,

Been trying to get a dual boot XP and Vista.. not for me for a mates PC.

WinXP is on and working.. VIsta wont work.. it takes AGES to get to each point and then fails after the serial bit !

Its a quad core with 4GB ram.

I've removed 2GB as I heard that can cause this.. I've re written the DVD and even downloaded a different version.. I have a legal key !

Just fails !!

Help ?

When it comes to the serial bit don't put a serial in, just continue without a serial. I do remember with certain dvd compiliations theres problems when entering the serial.

I didnt.. its a failing DVD drive !!

Brand new PC too !!

Note to self dont buy Mesh..

Had to use a USB to IDE to get an old drive working !! To install Vista !!

Bear in mind that Vista install can be VERY picky about DVD drives. I had a problem using one perfectly fine DVD drive, and had to swap it out for another one to get it to install.
I've since put the old drive back in now that the system is up and running, and it works flawlessly.
