today I've installed Vista Business via MSDN AA and have it on a partition alongside XP.

Now, when i boot up Vista fails to start and after using the startup fix on the disk it still doesn't change. I've searched around for a fix to this problem but still can only get XP to boot - nothing from Vista!

I've installed VistaBootPRO 3.1 but still not been able to get anything to work.

Has anybody got any ideas?

Are you overclocking?.

I found VISTA wouldnt run when id got my system fully overclocked. had to hold back abit on the overclocking and it booted fine then.

not overclocked

i ran the compatibility thing from M$ yesterday before even downloading and it had no major issues - just stuff like creative still cba to code new drivers for their hardware (A4 pro)

so i still can't see the issue

i think its because Vista isn't on a primary partition.

its on a 250gb disk which as a primary partition with all my software on (so thats gotta stay outta harms way) and then vista is on the first of the extended partitions :(

i hope that's a typo? :p surely you can't have it on the same partition but rather 2 partitions on the same disk? if it is the same partition, then i think that would explain your problem. :)

well as far as i'm aware thats not possible so no.

anyway - i'll see if i can play with my partitions to get it to a primary partition as i'm now almost certain thats the issue :)

thanks.

You mean your mistake? It has only done what you have told it to do.

GetDataBack is what you need.
