Hi all,

I'm new around here and hoping that someone might be able to help me. I've been building my own PCs for a few years now, and recently took the plunge to upgrade various elements and move up to Vista x64.

The current spec is;

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600
Asus P5N32SLi Premium Socket 775 Mboard
MSI GeForce 8800GTX 768MB PCI-E OC
2 x Patriot 4GB PC2-6400 C5 Extreme Performance (2x2GB) (total 8GB)
Xilence 600W Gaming Edition PSU
storage is 2 x RAID 0 arrays one based on 2 x 500GB Seagate/Maxtor SATA2 16MB and the other on 2 x 250GB Maxtor/Seagate SATA2
and the system is cooled using Gigabyte 3D Galaxy II GH-WIU02 system. [I'm 100% sure that cooling is not the issue - CPU temp even under load is about 34C]

What happens is that at some point after booting up and entering Windows (usually within about 5-10 mins) the system totally locks up and hangs - no error messages it just sits there (I've left it for over 24hours to no avail). The system is totally locked (CAPS LOCK light locked on etc.) and is totally un-responsive.

I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on what my problem is (or what I've done wrong) - there is some budget to change components if that will improve things.

Hoping someone can help.....

Best wishes

Colin

thanks for the quick repsonse...

I've never heard of "Dreamscene"..... (feeling a bit thick.....)

will go and check what driver I have installed - although I've tried various versions of the drivers (official & beta) but nothing seems to make any difference....
