Just installed Vista x64... install went fine, machine rebooted, but when it started back up it blue screened on the Windows logo. Rebooted the machine again and it keeps doing the same!

C2D 6700
Asus P5N32-E
4GB Crucial Balistix
8800 GTX
150GB Raptor
Corsair HX 620W

Any ideas?

have you got the hdd set to achi in the bios? did you load an achi driver?

also can you catch what the 00x0000000 code was?

you can learn a lot from that via google, often turns up some good results on it.

Failing that probably mem as already said.

Well we've established it's not the memory... seems it's a problem with certain motherboards when installing Vista x64 running 4GB of ram.

Running on 2GB's at the moment fine, just need to know if that patch comes down in the Windows Updates or not?

It's not the ram, I've still got XP running fine on my old hard drive.

That means nothing, as Vista is better programmed it needs tighter tolerance. where xp would put up with faults, vista wont.

Vista is showing how some hardware is broken at manufacture.

edit - just seen you sorted it
