Just booted up as per norm. Tried both FF and IE and neither are connecting to the internet. Got the connection icon in the system try to say iam connected.

Tried,

-Resetting router
-Enable/disable network connections
-Repair function

Ive not looked into properties on the LAN connection as iam not that confident, iam guessing the problem may lie in those options?!

IE says any site I try the address is invalid

Got a XP pc connected to the router aswell which is working fine.

Have you tried pinging things from the machine?
Open a run box type CMD then in the black window type ping www.google.co.uk

Also do you use DHCP or a fixed ip address?

in the same CMD windows type ipconfig /all

It should show you information about your connection and its important that you have an ip address and gateway.

Sounds like the 64/ 32 bit bug.
Try a native 64-bit application- These should connect to the net fine, while 32-bit apps don't. Can't remember how to fix it (Linux ;) ), but should give you a starting point anyhow.

Not sure what you mean by that 'Try a native 64-bit application'

Very complicated :p
To put it simply, 64-bit requires a new EXE file. While you can run 32-bit EXE files, there have been some bugs with them, one of which was the loss of all internet connection is some circumstances.
In the start menu, there ought to be an entry for "Internet Explorer (64-bit)" - Try it :)

you hero, thanks well your right the x64 IE works atm. Any idea why/how to get the normal IE and FF working? I really only use FF.

Thanks a lot for your help with this.

Not the foggiest, I'm afraid :(
There were a few posts about it in the Windows forum at one stage, but can't find what I'm looking for.
Only suggestion off the top of my head is to update the NIC drivers (And any others for that matter)- May help things, if not eliminates one thing from the pile.

In Firefox, it'll be about: plugins. The files mentioned in there will tie up with files in c:\program files\mozilla firefox\plugins (and I'd expect there will be an analog for IE).

Not sure what you mean by that, iam sure ive got flash installed with FF. I can't see why flash would cause this problem anyway :S
