I've had this problem before on Vista x64, and noticed its been posted a few times over the last few weeks. In my case it seemed to be casued when I did a mass update of various drivers (chipset, NIC, sata controller etc). Luckily I was able to use system restore to go back to a previous point and thats fixed it, but it doesn't seem to have worked in your case
What anti-virus are you using? Perhaps its something to do with that.
Iam using nod and the vista firewall
did you try removing nod first?
try removing nod32
i think i read somewhere that it can cause problems
-try disabling IMON temporally
