Vista x64 Process use ??

Before i got vista everyone said to me "oh it takes up 2 gb of ram on its own etc etc blah blah"

But with coretemp running in the sidebar, I see different.

I run ultimate and im getting at idle with live messenger, utorrent, x-fire and NOD32 running.....

core 1 0%
core 2 13%
RAM usage 1040mb

ive found messenger takes 30mb of ram and the others not much, turned off vista runs 970mb.

Which isnt much really is it, currently i have pagefile turned off with no problems, everything is nice and quick.....

so what do YOU get ?

Hate Vista for how unoptimized it is, thats running from a E8400 @ 3.5GHz and 4GB Ram.
My other computer sat next to me is running XP 32 has 24 processes and uses a total of 260MB of ram.

Me too, to be quite honest.

Currently, 63 processes and 2.12Gb of ram in use with 0-2% CPU use over four cores. :eek:

My old XP machine used to avergage about 40 processes.

why 2.12gb ?

Just looked at my processes list and an Svchost was using 180MB alone, so closed it and low and behold it turned areo off. Wish I could just rip it out and have some decent old non-transparent XP theme, but even with Areo not enabled it still uses 30MB.

*Shrug* A restart dropped it down to 1.4Gb though, for now, at least.

That was chugging on nearly 200mb for me before a restart!

Just idling mine is using 2GB. I just switched to 64bit from 32bit yesterday and before 32bit was using about 1.5GB idling. This is with 5GB Ram and 50-70 processes.
