Hay Guys,

need some help here, im still packing vista (and frankly since SP2 its no worse than win 7 imo)

Ive just bought a shiney new PC 8GB ram i5 etc etc.
not think much about it I installed Vista to my horror seeing only 4GB RAM!!!! WTF!!

Of course my version of Vista is 32bit and I dont or never have had the 64bit disc. I understand from somewhere I can buy the 64bit disc from Microsoft but im stumped if i can find it on their website.

Would appreciate anyone who can help me with this.

Thanks

as far as i am aware its your licence that lets you install difference versions so "aquiring" an ISO of the install disc would not technically be illigal as long as you had a valid licence to make it legit?

Your licence for Windows Vista can be used with 64-bit or 32-bit.

What kind of licence do you have, OEM or retail? If it's the former you've broken your licence agreement and might as well throw Windows 7 on there.

I had a similar issue with a laptop i bought from my brother which was running 32bit vista and had no install disk. To switch to 64bit i borrowed a 64bit vista disk from a friend and installed it. Just use your product key from your original install.

When it comes to activating online it will probably (it did with me anyway) require you to call an automated Microsoft number (freephone) to confirm the licence. It's a simple process.

Don't think you can buy the Vista disk anymore from Microsoft. The page I used for it was invalid a long time ago.

Hi guys thanks for all the help. No I don't have OEM written in my product code. I will borrow or get an ISO of vista Home Premium and use my code, as I said I've got the disk just 32bit. Thanks all.

Personally, I'd spend the little extra and buy Windows 7 x64 Home Premium, it's far more polished than Vista in my opinion.

I'm not dissing Vista, it just feels old in comparison
