I am having a problem sharing files between Vista pc and XP pc.
Both pcs can connect to the internet via my router.
I can only share files on my XP pc if i switch off XP firewall.I am sure this is a small point if someone could tell me how to sort it.
My main problem is i cannot share files on my Vista pc no matter what i do.

When i look at the network map on the Vista pc i can see all that i would expect
pc1 pc2 switch and gateway.

If i click view network computers o the XP machine i get "Workgroup is not accessible"

Any help please

If you have a hardware firewall you can turn the SP2 firewall off. I think it is the SP2 firewall acctually blocking traffic for file sharing.

If you don't want to turn SP2 firewall off you can allow File and Print Sharing in the firewall settings.

O.K. firewall off which allows me to share the files on the XP pc with Vista but can anyone help with the second half of my problem.

Problem sorted.
I found the answer elsewhere but thought i would post it here to help others.

It seems the problem lies with the Vista login password. If you delete your password then reboot the pc it will then load straight up without asking for your password and for some reason file sharing between both pcs is sorted
