And I am impressed with vista so fare everything just runs faster and cleaner.
thanks for all the help on the previous thread on this subject.

I would think twice before getting any more memory thats all I can say. It cant seem to handle memeory over 2.75 gb. This is well documented on the Microsoft forums. I have ditched Vista in favour of XP 64 which is rock solid stable and can run as much memory as your board can take. There is the issue with slowness on vista, such as making a copy of a file, it so much slower than XP, not only that, but I get double FPS in all 3d apps on XP (possibly drivers and/or Vista itself). I will see what happens when the service pack is out because I am sick of Beta testing this and want my descent performance and stability back.

I agree that superfetch does improve loading time of apps, but there or memory addressing issues which cause slowdowns with memory of 3gb+. Being that Vista has a larger footprint than XP, I would say you need about .5 gb more to get the same "performance" as in XP. So a game which ran ok with 2 gb on XP will need 2.5 gb or more and will run slower, without question.

i have 2gb of memory and vista does run fast. i can't notice a different between vista and xp in speed but vista feels smoother and loads apps faster... however im running vista 32bit so i can't say about the 64bit
