VISTA????

I have vista home premium on my main machine and all of a sudden, after 4 months, it has decided it is not activated and wont let me in!!

Now, it is genuine, only installed on one machine etc etc and all I have read is this is a known problem blah blah and the way to solve is a format/re-install. This doesnt suit as I need some of the data that will be lost (and have before)

Does anyone have a solution? I dont mind regediting my way around this problem if it will allow me a couple of hours to get at my data (in particular outook!) as it is not an issue with legality etc as I own the windows (actually brought from OcUK) - if it is please mods delete and any ideas please email.

(I have now brought a NAS to avoid this issue in the future) $%£^%£ Vista!

Pick up the phone and call MS as you would have been instructed to do had you followed the re-activation process.

The only reason for not doing this is that your copy isn't genuine.

If it's legal then why not have a 5 minute cat with MS and get it re-activated? Tis what I would do rather then making things worse by trying to hack it.

This happened to me a while ago. It happened after I installed some auto updates
Anyway, I just rang MS and told them, dont think the woman understood but got my copy reactivated.

my old vista pc went belly up when i installed the latest nforce drivers from windows update. called them, typed in some numbers and got re-activated without speaking to a soul. type "slui.exe 4" in start search to get going, only takes 5 mins...
