Before I go pressing the buy button on a new little toy, I wanted a bit of advice...

I currently use a 20.1" monitor at 1680 x 1050, on Vista 64 with an 8800 GTS. Now I want to add another monitor, for checking temps, teamspeak etc, and i've seen a great little 9.2" lcd that'd be perfect for what I want.

What i'm unsure about though is that the monitor only supports 640x480 resolution, and I believe that the minimum res for Vista is 800x600 (?).

So, first question, would I be able to run a 2nd monitor at this res in Vista?

Will I need to set a custom res for it with my 8800, as the lowest it goes in the control panel is 800x600?

How easy is it to set up a 2nd monitor in Vista? Any tips??

Hope someone can help me out here, dying to buy this little gadget:D

Many thanks, in advance!

To be honest depending on the price difference i would go with the 20" it can come in really handy, kinda miss my second 24 now that i am back to the 24 and 17.
As for setting up dual monitors, just go to the nvidia control or display settings (right click desktop) and its pretty straight forward, tell if you want to extend you desktop, which is the main one etc, easy.

Cheers for reply. I was looking for a smaller screen mostly because of desk space (or lack of), and this one i've found would look pretty good on it I think.

Google 9.2" widescreen, and you'll see what I mean...

For that price i don't think you could go far wrong if you want it for so few things, but just try making a photoshop document or something that size (resolution) and see by print screening the applications you have running if it fits your needs.
Would it have to be a 20? would a 17 or something not do if you find the 9" to small.

I was looking at getting a 15" and wall mounting it until I found this screen, suppose a 17" would be ok also! Just liked the idea of the litle screen on my desk top.

So, there's no problems in displaying a diff resolution on a second screen then? Thanks for the idea about checking out the size in a document, will try that out.

Sorry for long delays in replies, i'm tiling at the mo, and just keep popping back up to my pc every now and again :D

edit: Is this roughly how it'd look??

Not sure, it might shrink it but i am thinking its probably going to end up something like

But then again i might be totally wrong, i am only guessing to try give you an idea of what you can actually fit on the screen.
Probably is fine for what your saying temps and teamsqueek, but a bigger monitor can always come in handy, if you have the money go for a bigger one it cant hurt, if your running out of desk space you can maybe mount it on a wall or something.

I can live with that! Cheers for the help, will order it today, then post next week how I get on:eek::D

Edit: Just spoke to the manufacturer, and they stated that it wouldn't work as a second display in Vista...
