Vista64 and XP64

Looking at your signature and judging by your post, you're not keen on Vista x64? I have it on my system and think its fantastic.
XP seems better for gaming though atm.

i'm just dismayed with the whole vista thing tbh.
crysis ,that issue with the icons, multiple programs wont run right or wont load, the only thing is it will utilise all the ram
like i said XP64 advantages anyone

Well TBH XP64 against Vista 64 is pretty much the same as XP 32 bit vs Vista 32 bit.

With the memory you have you will need to go 64 bit. That much you know. XP 64-bit won't run some games / programs (you can mess around with compatibility, etc. to get some running). Sooner or later though more and more stuff will be DirectX 10 only and you will be forced into using Vista.

If you have Vista then I would use it - they will patch games that have problems (especially new games) and service pack 1 is just around the corner which means more people will come to it (which means more companies will focus on it).

Vista x64 is a much better OS. I use XP x64 at work and Vista x64 at home. Vista compiles code much faster thanks, I believe, to Superfetch and the desktop is a much smoother experience than on XP which tends to tear and present artifacts at the briefest moment of high CPU usage.
