I have an old PC running Vista that I am about to put to sleep.
I want to use the HDD elsewhere.
The HDD is not partitioned apart from the small recovery partition that Vista creates therefor my OS and data are all on the same partition.

I want to be able to make a recovery disk of the OS as it is now...with all updates etc...
Is this possible.

I have already moved valuable data to a spare HDD, so I woud like to copy the OS as is onto removable media and then format the drive.

The copy of Vista is genuine and I have the license key, but I want to store it on disk to use later if needed.

I have the original recovery disks but they are only SP1 and if I remember correctly there are a lot of updates from then to now.

Obviously I could start to delete everything until just the OS and all updates remain then create an image but that would take hours.
I'm thinking theres a better and quicker way.
