Hey, im doing a college project on vb (sigh) but i have noticed that it is not possible for me to open the work i did at home on VB8 (.vbproject) on the school computer which uses the extension of VB6 (.vbp).

Is there any converter that you all know of that enables backwards compatability?

Thanks.

VB8 as in .Net?

You won't be able to convert .Net to old style VB I wouldn't have thought.
You can do upgrades from VB6 to .Net as it's compatible but not in the other direction*.

(* depending on what you have written of course)

VB6 and VB.NET are completely, fundamentally different languages. While it's probably possible – though ill-advised – to convert a VB6 project to VB.NET, you can't go the other way without rewriting it entirely. VB.NET is a superset of VB6, roughly speaking, and as such has many, many features that have no equivalents in VB6.

Just rewite it in .net. It shouldnt be too hard. What is the application? If you need some help with any parts of the conversion then just post on here.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick, he has written it in .Net. Unfortunately his course is in VB6.

Now how he didn't notice I'm now sure but there you go.
