Is there any way of really learning this language?

Im using it at uni but its the worst language i've ever tried to learn!

Any tips and tricks for the trade?

Visual Basic is not too difficult to pick-up but it's a pig of a language which makes doing things in it more complicated than other languages.

Just really the order of things and functions confuse the hell out of me!

Im learning python in parallel with this which is helping slightly.

I dont know what it is with VB but it just confuses the hell out of me.
