Visual studio 2008 and windows 7

I seem to have a strange problem with visual studio 2008.

If I start up a project and open a page then leave it for a while them come back it;ll appear unresponsive. But its as if there's another window that's taken priority.

for example say you wen't into device manager then opened up a properties window then tried to click the device manager popup again you'll get a ping sound as it wants you to deal with the open properties window first.

This what it sounds like in visual studio only I can't see the popup anywhere.

Anyone had a similar problem?

Have you installed the service pack?

yep already had it installed, but to see if the install had got damaged I un-installed the lot, re-installed VS then ran the service Pack prep and installed the service pack and still the same problem.

Hmm very odd. Tried hitting escape a few times?

I've seen this a few times but I've quite figured out how to stop it doing it. For me it's the normally the TFS authenticate window and I have no idea how to get back to it, so restarting VS is the only way.
