Visual Studio 2008 Install problem

I can’t seem to get Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional to install for some reason, I just get the following errors every time:

I tried the troubleshooting links in the second screenshot but that didn’t help. Google doesn’t seem to have any answers either.

Any ideas? I’m running Vista 64Bit Ultimate.
 
I just tried downloading and installing the .NET framework 3.5 separately from the Microsoft website as that’s where the installation keeps getting stuck. Seems that its not a Visual Studio error, but a .Net one:

I had exactly the same problem with my Vista x64 and I rebooted my PC and then 3.5 and VS08 installed faultlessly.

Just goes to show that the age-old tricks from the 1990's still work today sometimes...

Wow a restart fixed it. Thanks! I don’t know why I didn’t try that to be honest :p
