new browser hit the web (at least the final/ first non-beta version)
https://vivaldi.com/?lang=enhttp://
made from the guy that made opera

reasons that made me switch:
  • compatible with Chrome Web Store apps and uses Chromium
  • write notes on the side and save them (allows screenshots, attachments and url to be saved along with the notes)
  • web panels for websites
  • can change where the address bar stays
  • can chose to open, save, save as downloads (something i really wanted in chrome from the ie days)
anyone else switching

I'm staying put for the time being.

Dev team behind Chrome will be an order of magnitude larger than that of Vivaldi. It's battle hardened and most of the services on the web are Google.

Only browser that I may have a look at is the new Mozilla one when it launches Called Servo. But it's most likely at least a year away if not more.

I like the cross platform compatibility and synchronised aspect of chrome. If this can do the same and have all the applications I use integrated then I may give it a whirl.

I've downloaded it and started giving it a go. It seems good and I find it faster at loading pages than Chrome (for me) and it also seems to keep tabs from the same site together, a very useful little feature.

i like that you can customize the layout on install abit
seems pretty easy on the eyes
ill give it a test for a while

Was using this last year when it was still a bit "basic". Looks good though and I hope the progression and development of the browser goes well.

As soon as it has sync and ad-blockers, I'm dumping Chrome. The Chrome team are insanely arrogant and need as much competition as they can get.

It works fine with adblockers. I've asked it to ignore ads on two sites which worked imediately. Chrome used to either just turn it off or on completely.

Never used sync across devices though, so that does not affect me.

Had a quick play, just felt like a renamed opera (chrome version) which isn't surprising considering who's made it. I never really like opera so went back to firefox.

It did have ublock available and it seemed to work fine.

I'll download it and give it a go, though ultimately for no other reason than because it's new and would be interesting to try out. I don't really feel any push to move away from chrome at the moment.

I dont know if it's the sites I've been visiting recently, or if IE and chrome are just getting more sucky, but found plenty of sites neither work on, but work on Edge fine. But edge is so pre Beta it's not really useable.

I like the look, so will give it a go.
All I want is one browser that just works and works for everything, and is tablet friendly when not on laptop. Microsoft stuffed up and removed all the tablet stuff from IE.

I've been using it for a while now - it's faster than FF and waaaaay less irritatingly glitchy than Chrome was every time I tried it.

Giving it a try. Absolutely MUST have sync with it though for me to consider it as a primary browser.

Typically Firefox is my dev/business browser (mainly for firebug and some other nice things), Chrome is my personal browser of choice, and IE for compatibility with some stupid out of date with times web tools.

EDIT: Seems pretty fast so far. Will give it a whirl for a while.

Gave it a whirl, few things that niggle me.

1.) Should let you rename the stacked tabs, so it functions more like FF's tabbed groups, which is a huge selling point of FF over Chrome, as Chrome lacks any proper implementation of this and all the apps to do it are a bit crap.

2.) Let me drag tabs out into new windows like I can do in Chrome. I use this often and it sucks it cannot be done.
