VIVO quality

What's the quality like with the VIVO input on a 7800?

I want to render DVDs from Sky+ and was intending to buy a Canopus D/A converter which uses a very good quality svideo to firewire converter for use with Adobe Premiere Pro but if VIVO is good enough then I'll go that route.

The quality IMHO is good (not very good), you can see some degredation, but to the lamer (not saying you are )it is not noticable!

I'll go for the Canopus then, I would notice, I'm a bit of a home cinema buff and up until now I've been using a Sony DSR-11 pro DV recorder borrowed from a friend. I just wish someone would make a firewire add on for Sky+ so you can take the digital stream directly.

I have found VIVO on fx5900, x800, 7800 to be crap as only offering 320x288 & I got a £30 PCTV capture card which is MUCH better at 720x576 DVD capture.

only offering 320x288 ? I cant speak for nv cards, but all ati vivo cards work upto 720x576. An odd mode on my compro t200 offers 768x576 which is an odd res, but playing ps2 through svideo at this res is pretty good.
