Hi I recently bought a new Asus laptop.i have noticed if I shut the lid and leave it for more than approx 8 hours it shuts down and I have boot up again. Is this normal ?
When I initially set up the laptop a smaller screen appeared with what I think was possibly to do with bios or uefi , It asked yes or no so I clicked no, and it has not come back.
If I open devices and printers the is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark for the laptop. Troubleshooting says " Vivobook UEFI has a driver problem.
If i go into the myasus app and look for updates it says there is an update for bios for Asus.I am tempted to update but worried in case it causes further problems. The file has to be copied to usb and installed from the bios page. Is it possible this is causing shutdown ? I have contacted ASUS but have had no reply. I would appreciate any advice. Many thanks

It may be a setting in the BIOS or Windows telling the machine to shut down. Or, battery going flat?

In regards to a BIOS updates, as long as you keep laptop plugged in and plenty of charge, I think you could update the BIOS in Windows via the App.

What the reason you need it to run for over 8hrs with the lid closed?

If you tell windows not to enter sleep it should run for ever as long as you have a power input
