Hi,

I have a VOIP phone system running really well on a network. It administrate the system, I have to untag a specifc port on the switch. The only disadvantage to this, is that I have no interent access, as VLAN 2 is on a different IP range etc.

Is their a way on a laptop, I could access the phone ystem on one LAN card, but still access the internet via another IP address range.

The reason being, so that my phone support people can access via my laptop (logme in) to support me when I have issues.

Any ideas as to how this can be done?

Thanks

Robert

You mean having a softphone hooked up to one VLAN and everything else hooked up to another one? If your NIC drivers support it, you want VLAN trunking I believe - I've done it on routers in linux and routed between lots of VLANs down one network cable.

Just buy a cheap usb or pcmcia network card, don't put a gateway IP on it and you'll access the internet fine through your normal connection.
