VLC 0.9 series

Is it just me or does the newest version of VLC suck? :/

The new GUI is ugly, and picture/sound quality seem to be lower too. Plus I get a heck of a lot more random crashes, such as when opening a file the audio starts playing but no picture.

Definitely going back to 0.8 when I can a chance to sort it out.

I have started using Mplayer instead of VLC and I'm much happier, especially when it comes to 1080p films..

I love the new update.

I think it looks better, easier to use, doesn't open 2 windows when trying to watch a movie on a second screen anymore, I can now stop/pause movies without having to minimize the player and I can also minimize the player to tray.

I've had no crashes or poor picture/sound quality here.

It finally has a full screen interface so I can consider actually using it as a media player. Much needed update, can't believe it's taken them this long!

VLC 0.9.x has actually been OK for me.

No problems to speak of.

I must be one of the few people who used 'post processing', but now that seems to have gone. It was great for smoothing low quality video's.

I'm with you Fetch, I don't like it at all. I've reverted back down to 0.86i.

I get this all the time. I close it and open again and it works but it's still annoying.

I got that on old vlc it's happened for as long as I can remember.

went back to it and dont mind it, used to use mpc but HD playback over my 4870x2 seemed to produce 1/2 rendered frames, im guessing a crossfire issue? but oh well, not had any issues with vlc so far since going back

Had a few random crashes when dragging MPC over to my TV screen (when it's plugged in), quite annoying and VLC doesn't do it!

The Mac interface is pretty decent, especially the OSD bits. Shame the Linux version doesn't look as slick...

For the audio but no video, just play about seconds then use the scroler to take it back to the start again and voila video works. I think i prefer the old one though. Also to pause when maximised you just push space

and t to see how long is left.
