watching toystory on dvd (just bought the bluray but dont have a bluray drive on my comp) and noticed a lot of artifacting using VLC player.

Never noticed this before, but also recently ripped a bunch of DVD to copy over onto my netbook.. Thing is these play fine on the netbook but the picture can stick on my PC.
I admit they are large file 2gb+

Any solutions?

Running windows7 64bit. q9550 8gb Ram.
netbook is xp atom270 (i think)

I think other movies stored on my comp (pR0n) is fine....it's almost like it can't render in time

edit: and now VLC decided to fast forward and skip by itself.

I think it could be the DVD player :S

Yup, it's interlaced video, basically a very bad way of making a DVD.

If you want, you can convert it to an mkv or mp4 file with handbrake, and enable the 'slower' deinterlace.

I've recently done this to my Trailer Park Boys dvds, they look great after deinterlacing
