vlc crashing - just me?

I've always had a problem with VLC crashing, having ignored it up until now. When I start it up, it just dies instantly. This can happen between 2-4 times before it actually starts up and runs properly. Other times I can start it up and run it straight off.

I have a mate that runs it on PC but has never found any faults.

Done a google search but results only seem to show failures with videos running etc. Not the actual starting up of the application.

Is it the newest version? I remember there was a certain one with dire stability a while back.

I updated it a short while after I noticed problems, but to no avail. I'll try the latest version.

I've not ever experienced this. Have you noticed it doing it with certain file types?

The files don't affect to player, it's the actual booting up of the application that fails. I click VLC, it bounces in the dock, sometimes it even opens the little player but then closes or I end up having to force quit on most occasions.

I've always found VLC to be pretty terrible on OS X.. never really understood why anyone uses it regularly.

I only use it as it seems to support most movie files. I'll give flip4mac a try later.

Yup, it just times out. I'm assuming my IP is blocked, as it won't load on any machine going through my network.

Works fine for me.
