vlc freezing entire system

This is really getting on my nerves now.

When ever i try and play somthing in VLC it run fine but as soon as i try and close VLC it just totally locks up my pc and i have to do a hard reset.

I formatted my pc the other day because it was good annoying so with a totally clean install and a slightly newer version of VLC installed it still doing it :mad:

Only things i have installed are ATI 7.5 Cat's, Nvidia MB drivers and ATI Tray tools. (along with all win xp updated)

When you play something, what is something? A DVD or a video file? Have you tried another media player such as Winamp, WMP, Media Player Classic etc?

Any file, DVD image, a divx file etc

Tried it with an audio file?

And have you tried any of these files with other players?

Was it the installer of VLC or the 7Zip archive? Have you installed any codec packs?
