VLC Media player question

For watching video files, what are the best settings? I'm getting a bit confused about de-interlacing and post processing.

I guess nobody really knows either then lol!

I've also found that the program sometimes doesn't close down properly. I press to exit, and then a few minutes later CTRL SHIFT ESC to find that vlc.exe is still running and using over 50% CPU.

I've had a look around as it appears that even the 0.8x series has some pretty bad flaws with it and haven't found an alternative apart from GOM player.

Are there any others out there with the already inbuilt support that VLC possesses? I switched to it immediately when finding out you didn't need to **** around with codec hunting.

I'm in the same boat. I use VLC player but I've never touched any options so I don't know if it's setup right or if I can improve video quality???

It seems to play films ok, but it'd be nice to know if there is something else that we're missing out on!

I've had a look around, but there aren't many people using the 0.8 series any more.

I'd rather wait until they sort out the other issues they have with the 0.9 ones first before installing it.

Ah OK. Wouldn't have thought much has changed from 0.8 to 0.9 series in terms of settings?

I use VLC & haven't even found the option to stop it being my default player let alone owt else
Plays owt I throw at it though & quality is sound.
I'm subbed to the thread now & interested in any improvements though.

You can use it for upscaling, and when I tried it, it did it pretty well.
