VLC not playing .mkv files

I've installed VLC (Working fine prior) and K-Lite codec pack and when i try to play the .mkv file it doesn't show any video and seems to only last 10 secs, even though its meant to last 45mins.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure the mkv isn't corrupt?

VLC should have no trouble at all playing an mkv.

You have klite installed - have you tried playing the file in media player classic?

UTorrent is reporting its a .mkv yet vista is saying its a .avi.

MPC says "cannot render the file"

Hahaha nevermind, im trying to play the file that i only downloaded 3mbs of.
