VLC or Media Player Classic?

Did i not read this same topic only last week?

as i said then... VLC for everything but NAS Streaming.
 
VLC tend to "just work" for everything.

MPC-HC is far far better at playing H.264 content though. VLC uses tons and tons of CPU whereas MPC-HC, depending upon your hardware, does not - and even then it supports multi-threaded decoding whereas VLC does not.

VLC comes into its own when you've downloaded some non-descript .avi file where you don't have a clue what format it is.
 
I've always installed VLC and so far, I've never encountered any problems with it. This is probably over a span of more than 5 years and dozens of different file formats.
 
MPCHC from xvidvideo.ru as mentioned above. MPCHC has DXVA, which VLC doesn't. That's a discussion killer right there in my book; who wants to play 20GB 1080p rips with no GPU acceleration? :)
