VM 20 > 30 meg upgrade

WAIT !!!!!

A very nasty chill just ran down my spine...

I like the idea of the all in one router/cable modem BUT

If you use it as designed (unbridged) then the whole of your home network is available to Virgin Media to see :/

Think about it for a second :p

I still don't get it. If I'm wrong so be it but at least tell me why.

Can't you just use your old modem or won't it work with the higher speeds?

Depends on the DOCSIS version on the modem. Basically they'll work but your speeds are dependant and limited by the version. Over 20mbps you'll need DOCSIS 3

Its already been discussed why/how earlier.

Your superhub in modem only mode via the firmware or hack is just that. Your router attached to it is doing its job exactly as before so nobody is going to see your network from the internet, just like before.

Does that also mean that telephone need to change the wiring from the box?

I just got delivery for the modem/router as well as cabling.

well I just got my letter saying I can upgrade to 30 for free (apart from £30 activation fee). Then in all the smallprint it says my loyalty will be took away and I'll be on standard pricing. So basically for free will mean them taking a tenner off me each month! Doesn't sound free to me!!!

Ignore that tbh. I was told by the guy on the phone it would be cheaper by £1.50 each month. According to the last bill he was correct, just pays to keep an eye on it.

When you phone up, just make sure you get him/her to actually confirm that the monthly price won't change, then if you get any issues you can always refer to the recording they take of the call.
