VM+ Advice

Just a quick question really. Am getting VM+ installed next week, and was wondering if there were any different boxes or one i should ask for?

Well for vm+ HD theres a samsung one and a big black ugly one.
Obv samsung is quicker, no doubt there's the same sort of thing for normal vm+. But samsung one should come as standard now

dont think you really get a choice.....could be wrong....

but when i had mine fitted he just connected it up and disaleared just as fast....

Virgin say you don't get a choice on what box you get just whatever the fitter has on his van. I have had both v+ boxes and trust me you want the samsung as its better looking and almost half the size - silent - much faster at everything and I personally think the picture is slightly better. I would suggest being very nice to the installer and ask him for the Samsung box, other people he will vist won't know or care what box they get.

The old box is massive very noisy and annoying as hell when it stutters going through the channels and menus

If you don't get a Samsung (unlikely), 1st step is ask the engineer if he has any on his van. 2nd step is to cancel and wait a few weeks before 'changing your mind again'.

We have the old big black box.

To be honest it's not 'that' bad, sure every now and again it will freeze for a few seconds when browsing through the 'now and next' guide but it's nothing that annoys me enough to do anything about it!

get Samsung, the big black ne crashes every other night and is super annoying.
Although you don;t get a choice, but most fitters will do what ever you ask, assuming they have one.

Going to wait till the tivo ones are out and complain about the big black ugly one (thompson isn't it?)

I have an engineer coming out on friday to look at our SA V+ box which has developed an annoying habit of becoming completely unresponsive for about 5 minutes at a time and is also making a horrible racket too.

What makes it worse is that its in our bedroom so when it does decide to update in the middle of the night etc it sounds like we live next to an airport.

Hopefully the engineer will leave us with a shiny new Samsung box.
