again today trying to accesss facebook and it works fine through our entanet connection but when we try to access it through our 20mbs vm service we get the following message:

Connection Interrupted

The document contains no data.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

They are having MAJOR problems with DNS as of late but that's because all the DHCP servers are being upgraded and a few other misc upgrades which i cant mention.

It'll be fixed, gonna take another month or so though...

I'm on the VM 20mb service and, whilst it is REALLY slow (have an engineer coming out this pm to try to sort it) I can access most pages okay including Facebook.

If it IS a DNS issue, try entering the ip address (69.63.184.15) in your browser and calling the page that way, if you get the page up then you know it's just DNS issues :)

if you think it's your DNS servers then just change them to either;

Open DNS
4.2.2.2
199.249.19.1

or any oher free one...

I have stopped using VM DNS servers long time ago.

Yeah OpenDNS or bust, tbh. If you have a router on the VM connection just set it up in there so all your PCs will use OpenDNS automagically. If you don't use a router you can do it on each individual PC using the TCP/IP properties for your connection in Network Connections (in XP, but it's very similar in Vista).

In XP that would be Start > Control Panel > Network Connections... Right click the relevant connection icon (Local Area Connection, Wireless Connection, whatever) and hit properties. Then double click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and the following box will pop up. Just enter the OpenDNS IPs in the DNS section, like this:

If you get stuck you can get a step by step guide from OpenDNS's site (and info on all the features you get if you register, which is free) HERE.

Don't be put off by how slow the actual OpenDNS website can seem sometimes - the service itself is lightning :D Oh, and sorry if this post sounds patronising and you know all this already. I was bored, so meh :p

Is that due to the recent DNS patch that was released yesterday?

I noticed the same problem as the OP last night even when using OpenDNS.
