Not sure whether anyone can help, but, I got a laptop for my parents for Christmas and now they need broadband. They have a Virgin Media telephone line so I said they will only be able to VM Broadband, not a problem as I am already with them.

My query is what would you recommend they get and is there any special deals they could get? I suggested they get 10meg.

Also, does any one know whether an engineer will need to come out or can they get VM Broadband via their telephone socket?

Many Thanks

Which service to go for will depend on what their usage habits are going to be like. If it's just gonna be a bit of light browsing and email the 2Mb service would probably do the job.

Deal wise VM do broadband and phone bundles, but might be funny about the advertised deals only being for new customers. Probably best to phone them, as if you follow the existing customer upgrade bit on the site it quotes the services at full price. You can see details of the bundle deals here: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/bb_deal.html

What usage are you expecting from them. I have a broadband contract but I am seriously considering dropping it for a USB PAYG dongle - can sometimes work out cheaper. Anyway, was just a thought if they didnt want the complexities of contract etc...

My GF pays £27 per month for 10MB (which was 2MB, but she got a free upgrade), phone (basic package) and TV (again the basic package)

Do they have Virgin TV?
