Anybody know whats going on with VM bb lately.

I live in Brighton and the speeds are getting worse.

Just run a sppedtest just now, I should be getting 20MB

What do you actually get when downloading from a fast source? Speedtest.net is not reliable as I often get reports that I have around a 3mbit connection, yet in reality I can download at 2400KB/sec.

With that said I've actually just got a decent result from speedtest.net for the first time ever:

on ADSL, ping currently 800ms+ to bbc.co.uk, speed is about dial up speeds right now...

Same for me, speedtest.net normally gives me crap results, but I can download at 2.33mb/sec most of the time. Just got this result though:

I only use it as a rough guide. Even VM< tech suppoort asked me to do a speed test whilst they were on the phone

Those speedtests are utter rubbish. Taken 2 mins ago:



However I fire up Newsgroups 30 secs after and carry on downloading at the usual 2.35mb/sec as I always have done. Dont gauge how good your connection is on a speedtest.

speedtest is dire. I live in Glasgow and i use the london and the 2 others beside it and they all vary yet if i use the Frankfurt one it always gives back a higher speed. Highly inconsistent.

ah so its not just me going crazy and wondering why i'm going so slow, i'm only on 2mb service but can download from a fast site at a max of 230KB/sec, but lately my download speeds fluctuate between that and 50KB/sec, and this is outside of the throttling time period so its not that.

the VM status page has a red light on broadband but nothing on speed issues.

it better had not been the 4mb --> 10mb free upgrade thats causing these recent problems ffs!
