Hi I'm new to cable. Every now and then (3 times a day approx) it disconnects than has to reconnect. I'm only offline 15 secs each time but it's getting annoying. Anyone else had this or know what to do about it? Thanks

On 10mb line, standard 'Scientific Atlanta' modem.

Phone their tech support and get them to look at it, might need an engineer to come visit and adjust a few things for you.

I had this problem once over, the solution was to phone VM and ask for a new style broadband modem.

It solved this problem straight away, apparantly my old Modem wasnt capable of handling the 10MB+ signals

As far as i know Virgin stopped giving out Scientific Atlanta modems years ago. You need to phone them and requst a new modem. You'll probably recieve an Ambit 255/256 modem.

If you want to avoid any hassle of dealing with VM's first level support, I'd suggest raising the issue in their usenet groups.

get and engineer out i had same problem ....... he will accss the line .... check the upstream and downstream ... u can check this yur self ...in google serch ..... then he will fix the line/cable to house just incase it been cut :P or put filters on bk of modem to get the up/down streams right of get u a new 1 ;) which he will have on him at that time ;)

they will test yur modem on the phone .. so be next to yur comp free call em 150 form yur land line
