Hi

I just rang up VM to find out about cancelling my broadband and they offered to moce me from the M to L package for no extra charge.

I told them that I needed a fixed IP and the said I would have to have a business package for that

Surely this can't be true?

To be honest I can't remember when my IP changed at home anyway (talking many months) so you won't have to change settings in firewalls etc too often :)

Aye, VM's IP's for home users are what I believe they call "sticky", and don't normally change unless your modem is turned off for a while, or the modem changes etc.

Or if the MAC address of the device connected to the modem changes.

My mate called up and asked for fixed IP and got it with VM. Cant remember what he asked for, some settings or something. They said we dont normally give them out but they did. So he has.

Why would that be?
