VM - no download between 3-4pm?

Something i never noticed before and maybe im reading it incorrectly - according to

http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html

There is no limit for an hour between 3-4pm. Is that correct?

This makes sure that the service doesn't get blocked up with people using more than their fair share

i think its wrong. you pay for it, why do they have the right to cut you down just because your maxing out what your paying for?

Because you didn't pay for it to be maxed out...

I don't have a problem with ISPs restricting you if you use up too much bandwidth. I just wish they made that fact better known when you buy a plan off them and then there wouldn't be all this fuss about it. If they displayed fair use policies and max bandwidth allowances all over their website it would be fine, but at the moment unlimited doesn't mean that...

Because your paying for a residential internet connection and all that entails - if you don't like it cough up and get a business connection, leased line, etc.

I do have a problem with hidden limits or just silly throttling for the sake of it like BT seems to do - smart traffic management is fine.

Download limits are one thing but I dont like the VM limits set daily

specially since theyre quite low.

I also wish they didnt keep advertising as UNLIMITED!!!!1111 when its not :/

Business lines are no different to regular ADSL lines. You might get a better contention ratio but I dont think they should be able to sell you a connection whos speed differs just because theres a few more people up at that time of day.

As for suggesting someone at home get a leased line... why dont you make a useful suggestion instead of something stupid?

Virgin impose those to "encourage" customers up buy the top package. Every cable company the world over use the same ploy to get more money out of people. They're' only running at 70odd% capacity anyway.

If you want to complain about something complain about then still using the minimum upload speed to reduce your downloads

virgin media unlimited includes

5-10pm poor bandwidth and my favorite is the ssh throttled to 70kbyte all of sudden and major packet loss, thanks a lot virgin media.

days of random disconnect

problem is you can't do **** about it.

I'm on Virgins 50 Meg connection,

I can confirm there are no limits on how much & when the user downloads.

I have seen many post on various forums with regards to poor bandwidth on VMs XXL tier, but I myself has never had any mojor problems with VM BB

Somewhat less stupid than expecting to max out a home connection 24x7. If your prepared to pay several ISPs do business packages that are effectively unlimited as makes no difference - i.e. FUP @ 1TB.

Do you use ssh ?

ssh is a standard network protocol, for them to cap ssh it is probably against the contract. Especially when i am on the 50mbit package.

Zen Office Max is unlimited (truly) or 1000Gig (download) depending on the exchange i.e. which network they can route you over and is only £79.00 a month which is a bargin for that amount of bandwidth on a traffic prioritized service. Theres a number of others including eclipse resellers who have similiar type of packages.

hmmmm. That shounds pretty good to be honest. although, im currently paying £30, or £35 to ADSL24 whos caps are 45gb between 8am and 8 pm and nothing the rest of the time on the office package im on. Doubt i could actually warrant spending another £50 odd when im sure my housemates would complain if stole the bandwidth all day as well as all night lol
