I've pulled the HD out of a Packard Bell laptop that broke where the mainboard had gone. Using WinImage, I've created a .vhd image of the drive, and then tried to boot the virtual machine up in Virtual Box.

However, it boots to the option start windows repair / start windows normally, and then just loops and boots back into it.

Is this because the installation is configured for laptop hardware and not compatible with Virtual Box, or am I missing a setting somewhere?

Its Windows 7, there are two partitions on the drive, SYSTEM RESERVED (in capitals) and Packard Bell.

I don't think it's possible, because of the hardware differences, I just wanted the license key because the bottom of the laptop is worn and you can't read it.
