Broadband Package: 200mbps

Previous Setup:

Superhub 3 used in MODEM mode. Superhub 3 connected to Netgear AC router. Powerline is plugged into Netgear AC router

On my desktop PC upstairs, I consistently got 200mbps

New Setup:

My Netgear AC router died, so...

Superhub 3 used in ROUTER mode. Powerline is plugged into the Superhub 3

On my desktop PC upstairs, I consistently get 95mbps. Always. Even at 2am.

------

What could the issue be here? Surely the Superhub 3 has gigabit ports? I am using the exact same powerline adapters (TP Link Gigabit 1300mbps models) and the same Cat5e/Cat6 cables...

Thanks!

Dont have a superhub 3 personally but is there any options in there for link speed? or anything labelled up full/half-duplex or even 100BASE/1000BASE. If there is try setting it to either full or 1000BASE if you have an option

Swap the cable anyway. Try a longer one than you're using currently.

Is the link between your PC and powerline adapter negotiating at 1000Mbps?

Probably just crappy chipset compatibility somewhere along the line, most likely from the cheap switch in the Superhub. One of my desktops will not operate at 1Gbits plugged into a BT Hub 5 no matter the cable but the other desktop is fine. Plugged into a half-decent switch it's fine.

As said above, it's probably an incompatibility between chipsets. It would be a fruitless task unless the switch and router have a gigabit link between them (swtiches typically have 2x colour LEDs, eg orange might be 100mbit, green for 1000mbit)

I'm not a fan of powerline at the best of times..

Not something that I've ever come across before. Have you tried connecting your PC directly to the router? (using a long cable), what speed does that get?

When I plug a laptop directly into the router, using the same cable, I get the full 200mbps

It will be tolerances - one end will be slightly out of tolerance one way, and the other end will be slightly out the other way.

Bought a gigabit switch

Superhub 3 --> Gigabit Switch --> Powerline --> PC = 95mbps

Superhub 3 --> Gigabit Switch --> PC = 210mbps

So the issue must be the powerline. I don't get why they were successfully doing 210mbps with the Netgear AC router though

Can you see what the powerline network ports are negotiating at? Are there status lights on any of the devices they connect to?

Is there a way to see what speed the powerline link is running at?
