Anyone having serious issues with them last 2 days? Pinging upto 300 in Quake4 makes it impossible, 512k download speeds cant even stream youtube its so slow!

Ive rebooted the modem a few times made no difference what so ever, this is appalling. Worse thing is I was just praising them the other day :mad:

ADSL?

Downstream as been uber turd. Had to wait ages for pages to load.

Latency however, has been very good, for me.

HAd nothing but issues with the 4mbit cable ive had in my uni house for the last 2 months. Never had 4mbit, often 512 speeds, pings of well above 200, normally 300-400 in most games, unable to browse the internet. Sent numerous emails and spent £20 on phone calls only to be ignored, replied a month later with "we have a problem, dont know when it will be fixed" responces, or handed to about 5 different people all claiming to be customer services.

Pick up the phone call 150 and cancel it, when you try to they will do something about it, I did and the problem was fixed and I got £10 compensation.

Just be firm but nice to them remember abusive ways normally get a negative response (took me 20 years to work it out)

2mb cable.

Been down for a total of 72 hours this month in my area.

When it's been up it's been fine though.

Well what ever they have done it appears to be fixed, upto 20mb again full speed woo! Thank god loading web pages has reminded me of 56k days

Only been on vm20 meg for 2 weeks but its been faultless 2.3mbs in the day and around 1.8mbs in evenings although i don't use it much then.

Mine was always pants, but over the last couple of weeks it been good

I would never get more than 3.5Mb now I'm getting 16.5 -19.75Mb

mybe VM realised they should try to get somewhere near the "up to" speeds they advertise.

Mine is generally very good - my Giganews connection gets maxxed out quite easily... however certain sites seem to struggle, notably YouTube is always very bad. I wouldn't mind too much but I pay a lot each month for my 20Mbit connection so I expect it to be flawless.

er that's far more likely to be youtube's problem. A connection to a site can only be as fast as the slowest link

wrong virgin are capping it to dial up speeds

i can watch youtube videos on B.e superfast so virgin is the problem.

This is similar to BT. When I am getting a solid 5Mb on most sites and speedtests, YouTube struggles to even maintain the video buffer.

yes!! bt, pipex, virgin, are capping youtube like they dont want you looking at the conspiracy stuff lol. ( the truth)

And you have evidence of that? Virgin don't cap, they use traffic management. Youtube use more than one server, simply watching a clip on be doesn't prove anything. Perhaps more likely is that your ubr is congested. Youtube is always fine on my virgin connection, as is everything else.

yes i have evidence
when traffic management kicks in at 3:45pm youtube goes downhill
its like all world wide sites are hard to open and surf my sister lives in japan
and i could barley send her a file

3.45? That's not when virgin manage traffic. And it doesn't kick in unless you go over a certain amount (depending on your tariff)

it is in my area has been for last 3 months
and no i didnt break any caps i dont download during day
only surf.
