Have installed VMplayer to my win7 machine and am now trying to install centos.

If I put the centos disk in I can boot from this using the VMPlayer but how do I install it so I don't have to keep insertingthe disk?

Am totally new to this so would appreciate some help.

Matt

When you boot up the CD there should be an icon on the desk top.

Something like 'Centos Desktop Installer' or 'Install to Hardrive.' Like this picture:

I'd give that a click and see how it goes! :)

Only if he's installing from the LiveCD instead of the proper installation CDs/DVDs.

Installing from the full media just select Install from the initial menu and follow the wizard (for a default install). Once installed it shouldn't need the disk(s) again unless (a) you want to install something else off of the local media or (b) you VM is configured to expect the CentOS disk to be in the drive.

Have installed using the cd/dvd and have got the following screen:

Just not sure what to do next to install to hard drive?

Interestingly enough and unknown to me until I had a quick read, apparently you can't actually install Centos from their liveCD. Well... without a bit of effort anyway.

So you are going to have to burn yourself a new install copy and follow the instructions. Or have a read of this thread if you want to do a netinstall:
