Hi guys,

Since I log my machine off when I'm not around to speed up the folding process, I was wondering if you guys did the same. I then realised of course that most of you quad core guys use VMWare for the Linux clients, meaning you wouldn't be able to set them as a service. At least, so I thought....

In case you guys didn't know, here is a way of setting up VMWare in a service, and it seems quite comprehensive too :)

I'm wondering if this will make a speed difference in the way that it does with a standard client on XP.

VMWare runs as a service anyway, or at least some of it does. I have autologin configured though so I can't easily tell whether the clients start before or after login. Either way, my clients start automatically and I don't usually have the server console running.

2004 Article or not, I wasn't aware this was that easy.

This is a good article by Jim Kenzig, Nice Find Yeggstry !! Opens the doors to endless possibilities. You dont even need to be logged into WinDoze for the VM's to be running (in my case I run 2x VM's with 2x Cores running under each on my one of my Quad machines - Native WinDoze XP of Course). The other two Quads are Native Linux Installs, so there's no issue with runing FAH as a Service).

Mr. Berserker: How do you get your VM's to run without having been logged into WinDoze and launching the VM Client, assuming of course your running a base OS of WinDoze.

Edit the settings for the VM (VM -> Settings), select the Options tab, and change the Startup/Shutdown options as you see fit. :)
