Well, not the best weekend. Had to reinstall windows then get VMware up & running v1.03. First a damaged Ubuntu disc then the installation was slow & the clock kept losing time: 4hrs overnight.
Long story short problem not Ubuntu but VMware- now reinstalled & running ok apart from FahMon [see other post]

Q. Has anyone had this occur with VMware?
I have a trial version of BitDefender AVPlus v10 which now crashes regularly with VMware running. I have a Speedtouch router with firewall enabled but ports 21,23 & 443 remain open with or without BD or the windows firewall active as well.
Q. What firewalls are people using?

Latest Zone alarm won't work with VMware or vice versa can't get permissions enabled.

I get the painful slowdown / clock problems from time to time too.

Just uninstall/reinstall vmware solves the problem for me. You can keep the virtual machines so no lost production. :D

I did not know that! Thanks for that nugget.
Using 1.03 Server, latest, version, needed for the 64 bit operation of SMP. No use of the player for me
