Vmware Fusion or Parallels?

To be fair both will do a pretty good job. I've used both and went for VMWare Fusion. When I bought VMWare I believe it was purely because it was better threaded for use with multiple cores but this may have changed.

I doubt you'll see much of a difference between the two and they're both nicely polished products. :)

There's not a lot in it really, I used to use Fusion because I'd tried both and I preferred it to Parallels. I saw a thread in here which mentioned that Parallels had come on a lot in V4 so I gave it a try again and I now prefer Parallels to Fusion. I've also played briefly with VirtualBox but I couldn't even get an OS installed using it!

Six of one and half a dozen of the other really. One becomes better than the other, then the other catches up, etc etc. I'd say that it's just down to which one you feel happier using.

I have both. Don't really have a favorite.

If you are going to get Parallels get this http://www.mupromo.com/

Parallels is included as one of the bundles but the whole bundle is $49 and parallels alone is $79 if you buy it off their site.

Tried VirtualBox and the install of Windows XP was VERY unstable. This was a few months ago now, not sure what it's like now.

Identical experience to me - except I have not tried VirtualBox.

I use Parallels v.4 on a daily basis - mainly Vista, but I have XP, 2000 and Windows 7 VMs too.

Just make sure you have enough RAM - the fist thing I did with my new macbook was install 4Gb of RAM.
