VMware fusion or parallels?

As the title says really. We have bought AirMagnet Spectrum XT wireless spectrum analyzer and it will run on a mac via fusion or parallels.
As I have no experience with either product, I thought Id ask here
Would one be better suited than the other for this, or are they both about the same performance wise?

You're gonna get people pushing their own preference with this question.

If I were you trial both products and choose which one you prefer.
 
VMWare fusion.

Both are very good and in many tests Parallels comes out on top (or at least used to) but the difference in everyday use is going to be negligable. Here is why VM Ware is the better option though:

Parallels release a new version like clock work every 12 months that is always a paid upgrade. You can also only install it on one computer (fine if you only have one Mac).

VMWare can often be found cheaper and goes far longer without major version releases but maintain regular updates and support. Licenses are per user rather than per ocmputer so you can use the same license across all your Macs.

Otherwise they are much of a muchness. You could also try VirtualBox which is free but YMMV compared to the paid options depending on what you plan to use it for.

Also both are often offered in part of Mac Bundles with other Apps so these are always good times to buy.

I've used Parallels for a couple of years now and it has been flawless, and always been ahead of Fusion in benchmarks and integration into OS X. I tried out Fusion 3-4 weeks ago as I'd never had first hand experience and whilst there are no issues it just doesn't run as fast as Parallels or have as many features. VirtualBox works fine too, but again slower and less featured.
 
Hadn't considered virtualbox, assumed it was windows only - nice one for that suggestion. Don't know if it will work as the app states fusion or parallels, but worth trying
Otherwise I might go for fusion as I think we can get it under our vm licensing
