VMware guide?

Is there a VMware guide knocking about? ive switched back to Windows from OSX for a while and ive noticed the WinClient isnt all that great, ive read on here that a VMwared client can give much improved PPD.

As i presume the OS that runs within the VMware platform is open source has anyone for a diskimage that i could use as my *nux knowledge is non-existant.
Also if you could point me in the right direction for vmware software so i dont end up buying the wrong thing that would be great.

Lovely jubbly, following the guide now got the VMware installed and im waiting for the ubuntu iso.
